The MOGUNTIA journey began in 1903 when Friedrich Buchholz founded the business in Mainz, Germany. His pioneering vision aimed to standardise the production of cold meats and meat products, laying the foundation for MOGUNTIA’S enduring success. With a diverse and extensive product range, you'll discover the perfect match for your culinary business needs.

MOGUNTIA offers a wide array of seasonings, process additives, compounds, aromas, starter cultures, marinades, spiced oils, bouillons, soups, sauces, fonds, roux, kitchen aids, desserts, ready-made products, stock cubes, and much more. We also have a significant retail arm, where we supply a range of savoury and sweet snacks directly to major retailers in UK including Tesco, ASDA, Morrisons.

Our History

2022 - CDC opens

MOGUNTIA FOOD GROUP opens a new Customer Delivery Centre (CDC) in Georgsmarienhütte to accommodate business growth. The 10,000 m² facility with expandable storage space for 4,000 to 6,000 pallets ensures swift responses to customer needs. Equipped with five loading docks and strategically located near major motorways (A33, A30, and A1), the CDC facilitates efficient deliveries to customers and suppliers. The integrated office areas promote a productive work environment, and the warehouse design enables fast and efficient order picking with sustainable lighting. The CDC's consolidation of warehouse locations enhances operational efficiency and reinforces customer-centricity, supporting our commitment to excellence in the food industry.

2020 - Commissioning of the group central warehouse in Ladbergen

The MOGUNTIA FOOD GROUP has taken significant strides to enhance storage capacities and streamline inventories from multiple production sites. To achieve this, MOGUNTIA established a centralised, state-of-the-art warehouse in Ladbergen, effectively consolidating finished products and associated logistics services Group-wide. This strategic move not only ensures efficient utilisation of resources but also translates to improved product availability and optimised customer service. Embracing this centralised approach, we continue to prioritize our commitment to delivering excellence to our valued customers.

2020 - MOGUNTIA acquires Hay Hampers

In 2020, MOGUNTIA acquires Hay Hampers including Hampers.com, a premium luxury hamper brand specialising in a range of beautifully selected artisanal food products, all hand-picked and delivered to your door. With a strong range both seasonal and All Year Round hampers, the Hay Hampers brand allows MOGUNTIA to further expand their e-commerce offering a brilliant option when it comes to corporate gifting and delighting new & old recipients every day.

2019 - The MOGUNTIA FOOD GROUP acquires the brand Fleischer

With a legacy spanning 70 years, Fleischer has offered a vast range of top-notch ready-made products as a superb addition to butcher's ranges, featuring traditional as well as new products for the modern kitchen.

2011 - The MOGUNTIA FOOD GROUP expands and welcomes Sherriffs Foods

In 2011, an exciting new chapter unfolded for the MOGUNTIA FOOD GROUP as it welcomed the addition of Sherriffs Foods. Renowned for its extensive experience in the UK retail landscape, Sherriffs Foods brought a wealth of expertise to the group. At the forefront of its endeavours, Sherriffs Foods has been instrumental in developing private label offerings for major supermarkets and brands like Nature's Store, always with retailers & shopper needs at the forefront.

1999 - Kirchbichl production site opens

The high-tech production complex for MOGUNTIA FOOD GROUP is a state-of-the-art food plant in Europe, with a high level of automation in the entire material flow. With market leading technologies, high levels of efficiency and precision, the MOGUNTIA FOOD GROUP consistently lives up to high standards.

1975 - Takeover of India Spices

In 1975, MOGUNTIA took over India Gewürze (later known as Indasia Gewürzwerk) at the Georgsmarienhütte location. This strategic move allowed MOGUNTIA to develop an offering of liquid products, such as marinades and seasoning oils, with the Georgsmarienhütte site becoming a specialised centre of excellence.

1903 - MOGUNTIA is founded

In the early 1900s, Friedrich Buchholz, a skilled butcher, embarked on a visionary endeavour by establishing a spice mill in Mainz, Germany, which he aptly named MOGUNTIA. The name itself carries a historical significance, harking back to the ancient times of Mogontiacum, a Roman camp located at the confluence of the Main River, where the Roman Empire engaged in vibrant spice trading with the Germanic tribes.
